I just got the most recent sale flyer from one of my favorite
suppliers:  Mid Continent Leather Sales, PO Box 4691, Tulsa, OK
74159-0691.  (PH: 1-800-926-2061).

Currently they are selling 11-13oz saddle skirting sides for US$89,
and assorted #3 grade leathers for 2-3.5 dollars per square foot in
various weights.  For Armoring, and less demanding decorative work, or
teaching materials, one could do far worse...
