From: weesparky2@aol.com (Weesparky2) Newsgroups: rec.org.sca Subject: build a castle!!!! Random thought, I saw a story on the evening news a while back where they were constructing houses out of old tires. Then a pain inducing idea shattered my blissful TV-induced zombie state." Why not build my dream castle with old tires?" The logic behind it is this: Old tires are easier to find than cut stone blocks, they are easier to lift, they stack somewhat neatly, and with a fresh coat of grey paint, it would look "ok" from a distance. Just build up the wall a bit, fill it with dirt and concrete, let it set. Repeat as neccessary. Walla Walla! Instant cheap castle! If a person were so inclined, he/she could then cover the exposed tires with a nice layer of masonry. If you need a positive promotional gimmik to bring in new members, please feel free to do this. Also good for recreating castle battles, as the walls would be nice and bouncy to repel them raging hordes! If anyone has several million used tires just lying around, please feel free to email me, or something. Kurzan the Sheepish P.S. Radials are ok.

Some years back, airplane pilots flying near El Paso reported seeing "weird figures" in the desert outside of town. Investigation by the police revealed several hexagonal shapes about 10 feet on a side, made up of old tires. The police were extremely puzzled, and thought it might be some new form of cult activity, until a local gaming group "'fessed up" and said they'd built some life-size hexes to play D&D.
