The History of Anfalas
As reported by Vonkar of Aerostoren
The kingdom of Anfalas was originally founded as a principality of the
Dagorhir Kingdom of Pentwyrven in 1992 (?) by Argadon Brightblade (Jim
Jensen). This Chapter was established as a Student club at Eckerd College
in St. Petersburg, Florida, but was open to any interested in joining.
Argadon became prince and, though scoffed at by fellow students, Jim's
constant efforts and hope for a better tomorrow somehow managed to propel
the organization forward.
Membership was low during the first three years, but picked up with the
Freshman class of 1994, when a whole new group of interested people
entered the arena. The culmination of 4 years as a principality and this
boom in Membership finally allowed the organization to become a full
fledged Dagorhir kingdom.
At Argadon's Coronation feast,
he was kidnapped by a vampire named
Darkwind. A battle ensured during which we tried to defeat Darkwind and
retrieve the king. During the course of the battle, two members of our group
were transformed into vampires under the control of Darkwind. After a
long night of fighting in a dark forest, we finally managed to defeat
Darkwind. The following morning, Argadon was found imprisoned in the crypt.
Erik did not have Jim's Ambitions or drive, but he did his best to keep the kingdom moving forward. Once again, the incoming Freshman class had brought with it new people eager for the taste of blood. Although most of those interested were good fighters, they did not put their hearts and souls into Dahorhir, and other matters caused them to loose intrest.
A spring camping trip was again held; 6 people attended. This time there was no coronation, but there was a feast! Two Capture the flag battles were held, Saturday night and the next morning we hunted each other for easter eggs. ;-)
When Elric returned to his homeland, a young man named Vonkar of Aerostoren took it upon himself to see that the Kingdom thrive. He began early, finding people who were interested and planing out events for the first part of the year. This year even more people had joined out little kingdom. Many who were interested in fighting, as well as magic came to follow this new leader. Foam smith meetings were held and several new weapons completed.
Vonkar's coronation feast was held and afterwords, he rallied his people to retrieve the Black Cauldron from the three witches, and destroy it. After a long search, and help from a wandering minataur, they found the cauldron, and at great expense managed to destroy it.
Some of the more memorable events from the first year of Vonkar's reign include a week-long immortals battle, (take your sword to class and don't loose your head), and a week-long vampire battle, (you could never be sure who your friends were). Bi-weekly battles were held, and a camping trip planned for the spring, but was rained out. Both Argadon and Elric returned for visits, and Elric fought with us on two occations. Our first real injury, (broken nose due to a flying knee) occured in the spring, though several people were also banged up in the cauldron battle.
The following year, 1997, Vonkar remained king. New, eager, freshmen joined and quickly started making weapons...now almost every member had a weapon of their own.
The History of Anfalas as Reported by Tienzel Ke'terre on Thu, 22 Jun 2000
The following year, 1997, Vonkar remained king. New, eager, freshmen joined and quickly started making weapons...now almost every member had a weapon of their own. Vonkar and Gwen, one of the vizers, were overjoyed to find people willing to put their heart into serving the kingdom. The first two new warriors who arrived were Kaitryn the half-elf, who promptly built the kingdom's first quarterstaff, and Jacob Nihil, who surprised the entire kingdom by anouncing his intention to become a knight. Later in the season a young warrior from the northern woods, named Tienzel Ke'terre, arrived. She was overflowing with ideas and enthusiasm, so much so that after her first day Gwen prophesied that she would one day be Queen, much to the young warrior's chagrin.
The fall was consumed with a flurry of weapons being built and ideas for Jacob's eventual trials. Three other people, the Armsmaster Tristain, Tienzel, and Spock Varan, got caught up in the fever and decided that while they had no desire to be knighted, that it was high time the kingdom had a kinsmen. They were therefore set trials of wit and stealth, which kept the entire kingdom on their toes for months to come. The kingdom's first Tavern Night was held and everyone looked forward to the Fall Feast. The Feast was held in the pavillion overlooking the water. Everyone was having such a good time that when two strangers approched, they were invited to join in the festivites. This proved to be a grave mistake. The pale lady was shortly revealed to be the undead bride of the vampire Darkwind, whom Argadon the First's warriors had defeated many years ago. She and her large champion kidnapped Vonkar, leaving behind a list of articles that must be collected to ransom him. The articles were gathered, but the Vampiress went back on her word, claiming she needed Vonkar's blood to resurrect Darkwind. A final climatic battle ensued, Vonkar was rescued, the Vampiress defeated, and the kingdom was peaceful once again.
The spring was mostly employed with trying to work out a workable magic
system in Anfalas. Then, late spring, tales were heard of strange happenings
in the land of Maximo to the south. Vonkar, disturbed by these rumors, sent
his Armsmaster, Tristian, to investigate. Tristian's sword, mage-bane, was
sent back to Anfalas in pieces, along with a note from the new ruler of
Maximo, the Litch King. He had captured Tristian and viewed his presence in
Maximo to be an act of war. Vonkar quickly assembled his best warriors and
procured a boat to take them to maximo to rescue Tristian. After a long
