Linda E. Lucas, Ph.D.
is a Professor of Economics at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg Florida.
Her new book, Unpacking
Globalization: Gender, work and Economics (Fountain Press, 2005) details the responses of men and women all over the world to
the processes of globalization.
She concludes that even the poorest persons are participating more
actively in the global economy through education, small enterprises and international trade.
Dr. Lucas has held
Fulbright professorships in Mexico City and Kampala, Uganda. She has been an
East West Center Fellow, a Visiting Professor of Economics at Thammasat
University in Bangkok, Thailand, Visiting Researcher at the Economic Policy
Research Center in Kampala and the Thailand Development Research Institute in
Bangkok. She regularly consults
with the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service on economic policy. Her teaching and research interests are
in women and work, industrial organization and marine resource policy. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. from
the University of Hawaii and is a popular speaker for civic and business
organizations on contemporary topics.
