Hugues, Son of Robert II

AR denier, 21mm, 1.25gr. Obv: +D-I DEXTRA BE, portal with letters HYGO around it. Rev: +AVRELIANIS CIVITAS, central cross. Mint is Orleans. C 31aV as Hugues, son of RII. R4895 as an anonymous issue. Dup 522 as 'nom de Hugues 1010-25'. His notes (p126) cite Caron who attributes it to Hugues son of RII. He also cites Prou (1886, 1887) who attributes it to Hugh Capet. Dup says these types are contemporary with Robert II up to the start of Henri I's reign. Dumas (plate XIV and pp 186-7) places these at the end of the Xth and start of the XIth centuries.
