All things hollow, or those that are in the form of a vessel, we humans among them, have the capacity to resonate. A resonant sound is created when sonic waves bombarding off interior wails match peaks and valleys coming and going. This is similar to the single pitch occasionally encountered while singing in the shower (usually lined with ceramic tile) which is stronger than other pitches around it. The result is a uniquely intense sound filled with overtones generated off the sonic wave peaks.

Vibration and placement of these tuned vessels is the primary sculptural element within the context of this gallery space. Through the combinations of resonance, the gallery space is transformed into a landscape of textured sound.

These objects, the space and the viewers are susceptible to sympathetic vibrations of the sounds produced during the performance. Visitors to this installation will experience pressure where sonic waves peak creating louder sounds and decompression in the valleys of the waves creating softer sounds. The gallery space is tuned through the careful alignment of the tones of the nine ceramic resonators. Sonic waves overlap to cause a strobe-effect where waves move in and out of phase with one another.

Gallery visitors are the composers in this acoustically designed space. Individual compositions are based on the route a visitor takes while walking through the gallery.
